Irving graduated from Springfield College in Springfield, Mass., served in the U.S. Army during World War II in North Africa and Italy.
He worked for the U.S. Customs from which he retired in 1982.
Irving was an active member of Three Steeples United Methodist Church, the Champlain Masonic Lodge 237, the order of the Eastern Star. He enjoyed golf, hunting, fishing and caning furniture.
Irving was predeceased by his parents and brother-in-law, Kenneth Wheatley.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred (Roche) Munkittrick who he married April 20, 1946, in Washington, D.C; his children, Patricia and Joe McDonald of Reno, Nev., Peggy and Terry Dupras of Plattsburgh, N.Y., Mark and Dianne Munkittrick of Couerd Alene Id., Kathy and Randy Barcomb of Champlain, N.Y. His grandchildren, Lisa Dupras, Michael Pulk, Tim Barcomb, Michael Barcomb, Jeffry McDonald, Kyle Munkittrick and Hana Munkittrick; two great - grandchildren, Caitlin Pulk and Nathan Pulk; one sister, Barbara (Munkittrick) Wheatley and a brother-in-law, John Roche.
Calling hours will be Friday, Nov. 9, 2001, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Clark Funeral Home in Champlain. A funeral service will be held Saturday, Nov. 10, 2001, at 11 a.m. at the Three Steeples United Methodist Church in Rouses Point.
